Arm brings neural acceleration into its next mobile graphics platform

Arm introduced CSS for Mobile 2, a reference compute platform combining its new Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU, C2 CPU cluster, system IP and software. The GPU is Arm’s first Mali design with dedicated neural accelerators, aimed at reconstructing and enhancing graphics alongside conventional rendering.

Arm claims up to four times higher performance per watt for neural graphics and says the C2-Ultra CPU reaches up to 1.7 times the AI performance of C1-Ultra. Those are vendor measurements, not independent device tests: handset designs, memory, thermals and workload settings will determine real results. The platform is an ingredient for future devices, not a phone consumers can buy today.

Arm opens a model portal with performance data and agent access

Arm launched AI Portal as a catalogue for finding models, code, runtimes and deployment workflows optimised for Arm hardware. Initial entries span language, speech, vision and neural graphics, including Qwen, Gemma and YOLO models running through ExecuTorch, LiteRT and ONNX Runtime.

The portal exposes latency, memory, size and accuracy information and offers early access to agent-readable resources through MCP. Bring-your-own-model analysis is promised later, so it should be treated as roadmap rather than present capability. Published speedups are Arm’s tests and need workload-specific reproduction.

Intel and ASML report High-NA EUV use on more than one million wafers

Intel Foundry and ASML said more than one million wafers have passed through High Numerical Aperture extreme-ultraviolet work spanning tool certification, research and development, and volume production. Intel says select layers of a subset of Core Ultra Series 3 processors use the process.

The companies also described reticle stitching and current six-inch masks as a bridge toward larger mask formats. The million-wafer figure combines several stages of work; it is not one million finished chips made entirely with High-NA EUV. Their performance and availability statements remain company-reported.

The Andhra Pradesh government approved recruitment for 913 vacant Accredited Social Health Activist posts: 673 rural, 64 tribal and 176 urban. District Health Societies led by collectors will conduct selection.

Health Commissioner Chakradhar Babu told district authorities to complete recruitment and submit selection lists by September 30. Approval starts a hiring process; it does not mean the posts are already filled. The health minister said remuneration is ₹10,000 a month, with state and central shares.

Karnataka food-safety officials said a week of inspections uncovered about ₹3 crore in expired or relabelled food, including stock at Amazon and Swiggy Instamart facilities. Two Amazon sites accounted for ₹56 lakh in alleged labelling and expiry violations; officials also reported unlicensed medicines there.

An Instamart facility in Hoskote was closed after officials reported ₹42 lakh in expired goods, while an investigation continues. The figures and alleged violations come from the department and health minister; enforcement action is not a final judicial finding. Check dates, seals and packaging even when groceries arrive through a familiar platform.

Tropical moisture from Marie and a strengthening high-pressure ridge are combining to raise heat stress across Southern California. National Weather Service forecasters expect Wednesday highs in the 90s across much of Los Angeles County and near 105°F in Woodland Hills, with heat advisories extending into Thursday.

High surf, rip currents and coastal flooding remain concerns at south-facing beaches Tuesday, and county health officials advise avoiding ocean swimming through Wednesday after runoff. Conditions vary by neighbourhood; use the current NWS alert and a cooling centre rather than this morning summary for immediate decisions.

Canada’s retaliatory tariffs take effect on about $20 billion in US goods

Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs of 15%, 25% or 50% on hundreds of American products, including steel, aluminium, cheese, appliances, clothing, cosmetics and farm equipment. The covered imports are worth about $20 billion and represent roughly 6% of last year’s US exports to Canada.

Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada would accelerate investment, infrastructure and trade diversification away from dependence on the United States. Formal trade talks have not resumed, though officials remain in contact. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer has suggested Washington could answer with further restrictions.

Britain bans trade with Israeli settlements; implementation follows in months

The United Kingdom announced a ban on imports from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and on company services supporting those settlements, including finance, construction, infrastructure, property and advertising. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said implementation would take six to nine months.

Israel condemned the decision and said it would close the British consulate in Jerusalem, remove UK personnel from a Gaza ceasefire-monitoring centre and end British training of Palestinian Authority security forces. The likely direct trade effect is limited; the diplomatic shift and retaliation are the larger development.

Textile history వస్త్ర కథలు

How resist printing turns absence of dye into a design

Blue-and-white Indian cotton panel with repeating floral and geometric resist-dyed patterns
Panel, blue-resist textile, ca. 1725–75. Cotton, painted and block-printed resist, dyed; Indian textile for the American market. The Met, 1978.191. Public domain.

Before dyeing this cotton panel, makers protected selected areas with a resist so the colour could not reach them. Painted and block-printed resist combined controlled repetition with hand-directed detail, turning the undyed cloth into part of the pattern.

The Met describes the panel as an Indian textile made for the American market. That evidence shows Indian textile knowledge adapting to global trade, but the catalogue does not identify a particular regional workshop; attribution should stop where the record stops.
