Happy ugadi ✨ పరాభవ నామ సంవత్సర శుభాకాంక్షలు 🥭
Ugadi pachadi holds six tastes together, sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy, and tangy, as a reminder that a year will contain all of them. A plain holiday graphic suddenly felt too flat for an idea that has this much texture.
So I turned the metaphor into a tiny interactive experience. That is one of my favorite reasons to build: not because the world urgently needs another app, but because interaction can help a memory, tradition, or feeling land differently. Sometimes a small personal project is simply a more honest way to say happy Ugadi.

this little web app tells you the year you were born in, based on the telugu calendar
while most of us think of time as numbers or some based on a 12 year zodiac cycle, the telugu calendar follows a 60 year cycle where every year has a name and a meaning
it’s a beautiful way of thinking about time not just as something that passes, but something that carries identity
there’s also a tradition called shashtipoorthi (షష్టిపూర్తి), where at 60, people celebrate the same year they were born in coming full circle
this calendar is followed across telugu speaking communities to mark festivals and new beginnings like today and yet, many of us don’t know our own year name
so i built this as a quick way to rediscover that connection
