It’s my first time at such a huge lab, The experience was surreal and I just cannot wait to work with the beast aka CAVE, the coolest VR setting, super technology, and wonderful people at the Emerging Analytical Center. Grateful for the opportunity Dr. Basu. Thank you very much!

The CAVE earned its nickname immediately. Three projection walls, stereo visuals, tracked controllers, and an entire room behaving like a display is a lot to meet on day one of graduate school.

I remember being intimidated and completely ready to learn at the same time. That combination became familiar over the next few years. Every meaningful step into XR began with a system that looked too complicated, followed by somebody explaining one piece, followed by me staying long enough to understand the next one.

The deeper I go into XR, the less interested I am in novelty for its own sake. I care about the moment spatial technology becomes understandable, humane, and genuinely useful to someone who was not already an expert.
