Reflecting on an Incredible Experience at IEEE VR 2025!✨ I had the privilege of attending IEEE VR 2025 in the beautiful city of Saint-Malo, France, where I presented our poster on "Preserving Privacy in VR Telemetry Data". It was an amazing experience engaging with curious minds about the importance of preserving privacy in immersive environments. I also to co-presented our paper "Gaze Insights in XR: Real-Time Eye-Tracking Analytics with Elasticsearch" at the Gemini Workshop with my colleague Mohammad Jahed Murad Sunny. A special thank you to Dr. Kyle Johnsen for attending our workshop, having him there added a meaningful touch, especially considering our academic lineage. I appreciate his time and incredible feedback on our research!
Saint-Malo was a beautiful place to talk about a slightly unsettling idea: the way we move in virtual reality can follow us like a signature. The contrast was not lost on me, historic walls outside, invisible identity trails inside the systems we are still inventing.
Poster sessions are one of my favorite research formats because the conversation can change every five minutes. One person sees the machine-learning problem, another sees policy, another immediately asks about a real deployment. I left with better questions, new connections, and even more certainty that privacy has to grow alongside immersive technology.
Beyond research, being a student volunteer remains one of the most rewarding aspects of the conference experience. The venue itself was breathtaking, featuring a historic wall where I enjoyed morning runs before sunrise, right before gearing up for my SV duties! I also had the opportunity to meet Henry Fuchs, discuss my work with him, and gain valuable insights, it’s always awesome to get feedback from the OGs of the field! Moments like these, along with the friendships formed and the dedication of the SV team behind the scenes, are what make IEEE VR such a unique and rewarding experience.
I am deeply grateful to my advisor, Dr. Arya Basu, Ph.D., for his guidance, mentorship, and continuous support throughout my academic journey. Looking back, mentoring has become one of the clearest ways I understand my own growth. Every question from another builder makes me articulate what I know, notice what I still need to learn, and remember how much a little encouragement mattered when I was starting.
